TEMPE, Ariz. -- For the first time in ten years, the Arizona Wildcats will travel to Tempe to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils in a tennis match.
The Sun Devils have capitalized on the renewal of their program, quickly establishing themselves as a top-50 program. ASU is 13-9 on the season, and ranked 34th in the nation by the ITA. The Wildcats are now 15-13 on the season, and still searching for their first Pac-12 win.
Despite dropping matches against USC and UCLA last weekend, the Wildcats come in to this one with some momentum.
Alejandro Reguant and
Jonas Maier are coming off a victory over the 11th-ranked doubles pairing in the nation, and freshman
Igor Karpovets pushed his singles match against top-ranked Martin Redlicki to a third set before it was called.
"This is the first time in ten years playing ASU," said head coach
Clancy Shields. "We're excited and we're going to prepare the best we can to go up there and get a W."
This is the regular season finale for both teams.
