The University of Arizona track and field program is set to host its annual Jim Click Shootout on Saturday, April 7 at Roy P. Drachman Stadium. With Auburn, Cincinnati, Illinois, Kansas State, and Ohio State set to compete in Tucson on Saturday, take a look back at the action from the previous editions of the Jim Click Shootout.
In 2016,
Sage Watson clocked a time of 55.45 in the 400-meter hurdles to set the top mark in the world, her teammate
Nnenya Hailey set the No. 2 mark in the world with a time of 55.97. Earlier in the competition, Hailey would set the school record 100-meter hurdle time with a mark of 12.96. Watson and Hailey's times would lead in the women's team win with a score of 164 points.
In last year's contest, the men and women both took second place in the team competition with the women scoring 119.50 points and the men earning 131 points. The field included Iowa, NAU, Oklahoma State, TCU and Wisconsin.
Watson made her 2017 debut in the 400-meter hurdles, taking first in the event with a time of 56.12. On April 8th, 2017, the mark was good for a top-three time on the NCAA list, and good for a share of sixth on the IAAF world list.
Lisanne Hagens won the high jump and tied her personal-best mark at 1.85 meters. Hagens' hop was good for the collegiate lead at the time, and per IAAF, a top-five mark in the world.
Tiana Bonds set a PR in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 13.77.
Claire Green won the 1500-meter contest, clocking a time of 4:25.42.
On the men's side,
Justice Summerset made his Wildcat outdoor debut in the high jump and cleared 2.19 meters to take first in his first outing.
Dion Shattuck-Baker took second in the decathlon, scoring 6.669 points.
In the throws;
Viktor Gardenkrans took second in the discus with a top-10 NCAA and personal-best mark of 58.09m,
Aaron Castle took first-place in the shot put with a mark of 18.97m,
Erik Mensendiek tabbed a first-place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 68.10m, good for the No. 25 mark in the NCAA at the time, and
Grayson Fleming set a PR in the hammer throw with a mark of 59.68m.
Savaughn Christman,
Brena Andrews,
Pamela White and
Jasper Gray competed in the 4x100-meter relay, taking first place with a time of 45.23.
Both the men's and women's teams notched first place finishes in the 4x400-meter relays.
Diana Gajda,
Brena Andrews,
Jasper Gray and
Sage Watson ran the relays in 3:37.61. On the men's side,
Bryce Houston,
Miles Parish,
Michael Demby and
Zakee Washington clocked a time of 3:06.69.
The Jim Click Shootout is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 7th at Roy P Drachman Stadium with the combined events taking place on Thursday, April 6-7. Tickets are on sale at ArizonaWildcats.com
