Student-Athletes of the Month Named for September

TUCSON, Ariz. – Women's Tennis's Talya Zandberg, Softball's Riley Kuderca, Men's Golf's David Laskin, and Men's Tennis's Filip Malbasic have been honored as the student-athletes of the month for September.
 
These students have been honored for their commitment to earning their undergraduate degree, the ability to maximize their academic potential, and their dedication to academic improvement and growth.
 
These students have been chosen by the C.A.T.S Academic staff.
 
Zandberg is a junior from Tiberias, Israel, and finished her sophomore season with 20 total singles wins. Zandberg is majoring in Communications and has excelled both on and off the court.
 
"Her grades are looking good, she is doing well in competition, and she has grown so much since she first got her," said learning specialist Michelle Galambos. "She has become much more independent, she cares deeply about her work, and she is wonderful to interact with. She communicates well and works hard!"

Kuderca is a rising sophomore from Patterson, California. Kuderca is majoring in Psychology and was Arizona's primary pinch-running option off the bench last season.
 
"Riley had an amazing freshmen year earning a 4.00," said learning specialist Sarah Barber. "She worked very hard to stay on top of her work and balancing softball. She is very dedicated and motivated about her academics and is looking to keep striving to do her best."
 
Laskin is a senior from Elk Grove, California, who is majoring in Finance. Last season, Laskin played in 13 events, spanning 40 rounds for the second straight season and is looking forward to his senior season.  
 
"David is a senior on the men's golf team and a finance major in the Eller College of Management," said learning specialist Jenn Mewes. "He has excelled both academically and athletically demonstrating his ability to manage both demanding schedules during his four years and is on track to graduate in Spring 2020."

Malbasic is a junior from Stockholm, Sweden. Malbsaic is a Pre-Business major and finished his sophomore season with 16 total singles wins.
 
"Filip has come to UA from Stockholm, Sweden and is in his 4th semester," said learning specialist Courtney Merkle. "He is an incredibly driven student-athlete who has excelled in the classroom and will be applying to Eller this semester. He has applied himself to his academics unendingly and is dedicated to improving himself. The path of being an international student is a difficult transition, which Filip has not only managed but shined at."
