Tucson, Ariz. – The University of Arizona track & Field program rounded out day one of competition in the Texas Tech Shootout and concluded the Husky Classic on Friday. Highlighting the day was sophomore Umajesty Williams, who grabbed a PR in the 400-meter dash.
 
"We had a fantastic day of PR's and there's more to come tomorrow," said head track and field coach Fred Harvey. "The Cats are moving."
 
A Pair of Laps
In the 400-meter dash, Na'Asha Robinson got the day started for the Cats with a season-best time of 53.50 to finish third overall. Tatum Waggoner crossed the line in 54.15 to post a season-best mark. Shannon Meisberger took the top spot in her 400-meter dash heat. On the men's side, Umajesty Williams ran an indoor personal-best time of 46.01. His mark is good for a top-20 time on the NCAA list. Zakee Washington registered a time of 47.86 to win his heat. Freshman James Smith checked in with a first-place finish in his heat with a time of 48.08. Daniel Egbo clocked a time of 48.55.
 
Throwing for a PR
Senior Grayson Fleming improved his PR in the weight throw to 19.37m (63-6.75). He finished second with the toss. On the ladies side, Amarissa Hawker threw a mark of 18.05m (59-2.75).
 
Snow Doesn't Fall Indoors
Due to inclement weather, the Husky Classic was condensed into a one-day competition. Highlighting the group in Seattle was Jennie Brargar-Petrash who clocked a time of 9:29.69 in the 3K to set a new PR. Collin Dylla ran a time of 1:53.74 to set a new PR in the 800-meter run. Bailey Roth clocked a season-best time of 8:20.33 in the 3K
 
First Time's The Charm
In her first collegiate pentathlon, Skylar Sieben registered 3,755 points to win the combined events. She took the top spot in the high jump, shot put, long jump and 800-meter run. She scored 916 points in the 60-meter hurdles finishing second in the event.
 
The Cats return to action at the Texas Tech Shootout tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. MST.
