TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona track and field program is set to host the Pac-12 Championships at Roy P. Drachman Stadium on Saturday, May 11th. The hammer throw will begin at 11 a.m. MST on both Saturday and Sunday, with the bulk of the events getting started at 4:30 p.m. MST.

Saturday marks the first time the Cats have hosted the Pac-12 title meet since 2011, and is the Championships' fifth all-time appearance in Tucson (1985, 1995, 2004, 2011, 2019).

For the second time in event history, both days of the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships will be broadcast live. Coverage of the event will air on Saturday, May 11 starting at 7:30 p.m. MST and Sunday, May 12 starting at 6 p.m. MST across all Pac-12 Network channels, the Pac-12 Now app and Pac-12.com. Paul Sunderland (1984 Olympian), Tom Feuer (Emmy Award-winning Olympics producer), Jordan Kent (four-time track All-American at Oregon) and Jill Savage will cover the action.

Conference Leads: The men's team holds five Pac-12 Conference-leading marks going into the weekend. Redshirt Junior
Carlos Villarreal posted the best 1500-meter run time in the conference in 3:37.22. Senior
Bailey Roth holds the top mark in the 3K steeplechase in 8:38.68. Junior
Justice Summerset owns the high jump lead with a clearance of 2.25m (7-4.5). Freshman
PJ Austin has the lead in the long jump with a mark of 7.74m (25-4.75). Sophomore
Jordan Geist leads in the shot put with a toss of 21.59m (70-10).

Living Legends: Arizona School Record Holders
Jordan Geist and
James Smith are set to compete in their specialty events. Geist, the Arizona shot put record holder, will compete in the shot put, discus and hammer throw events. In last year's Pac-12 Championships, he won the shot put and discus titles, scoring 22 points. Smith, the Arizona freshman 400mHÂ record holder, will compete in the 400-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay.

Last Lap: Senior
Tatum Waggoner will compete in her final meet at Roy P. Drachman Stadium. Her mark of 51.89 in the 400-meter dash ranks second all-time for Arizona. She is slated to compete in the 400-meter dash and both relays.

Double Him Up: Redshirt junior
Carlos Villarreal will compete in the 800-meter and 1500-meter run contests. He currently holds the conference lead in the 1500-meter run and ranks second in the Pac-12 in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:47.54.

Throwing For It: Sophomore
Kaelyn Shipley is set to compete in the javelin throw on Saturday night. In her last outing, she threw a mark of 50.22m (164-9) to set a new PR and put her at the No. 2 spot all-time at Arizona.
