Noennig Named USTFCCCA West Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year

TUCSON, Ariz. – Junior thrower Samantha Noennig was named West Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's regional athlete of the year honors on Thursday.

Noennig punched her ticket to the NCAA Indoor Championships and currently holds the best shot put mark in the country with 18.25m (59-10.5), which also gives her the best mark in school history and the Texas Tech Shootout meet record. 

Leading the women's team that is currently ranked 23rd in the USTFCCCA National Ratings, Noennig is undefeated through four shot put contests this season. She also picked up a second meet record at the Arkansas Qualifier with a mark of 17.75m (58-3).

She will compete at the NCAA Championships on Friday, March 12 along with Jordan Geist (SP), Israel Oloyede (WT) and Lillian Lowe (HJ).
