TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (5-1) used a five-run seventh inning to pull away from the Milwaukee Panthers (3-2) and secure their second straight win on Friday night. Arizona's 9-1 victory sealed at least a split of the four-game series.
Arizona starting pitcher
TJ Nichols (1-0) delivered an electric performance on the mound, striking out a career-high nine batters across 6.0 innings of work. He allowed just one run on four hits and earned his first win of the year.
Following Nichols were right-hander
George Arias Jr. and southpaw Christian Holden, who held the Panthers scoreless on just three hits to slam the door shut.
The Wildcats held a narrow 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the seventh but took advantage of a number of Panthers miscues to post a crooked number and break the game open.
Garen Caulfield delivered the biggest blow of the frame, poking a two-run single into right center.
