San Francisco - For the second time this season, senior captain Jonas Ziverts is named Pac-12 Player of the Week. The award comes after Ziverts defeated three ranked opponents between Stanford and California.
Ziverts casually beat the No. 2 singles player in the country Arthur Fery from Stanford in two tiebreak sets 7-6(8-6), 7-6(7-4).
This is the second top five singles player Ziverts has bested this spring. In February, Ziverts took down the No. 1 singles player August Holmgren from San Diego in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Before beating Fery in singles, Ziverts beat him and Axel Geller in doubles play with Herman Hoeyeraal. They won 6-2 against Fery and Geller who were ranked No. 48 in doubles.
The ranked wins for Ziverts didn't stop there. In the matchup against California, he and Herman Hoeyeraal swept the No. 28 doubles pair Yuta Kikuchi and Carl Overbeck 6-0.
Ziverts' victories helped lead the Wildcats to a historic winning weekend over the Bay Area teams.
No. 18 Arizona will host its last home match on Friday, April 8 at 2 p.m. against No. 28 Utah in which they will honor their three graduating seniors: Carlos Hassey, Filip Malbasic and Conner Olsen.
