TEMPE, Ariz. – The inaugural season of Arizona Triathlon will conclude on Saturday afternoon at the Collegiate Triathlon National Championship, hosted by Arizona State. The Wildcats qualified, as a team, for their fourth and final race of the year at last month's Heartland Triathlon Cup in Missouri. Arizona got top-10 finishes at the NCAA qualifier from freshman Dana Prikrylová and sophomore Kelly Lynn Wetteland.

"This first season has been about building a foundation of excellence and establishing a championship culture," said head coach Wes Johnson. "We've grown so much as a team since our first-ever race in Tempe back in September. Our student-athletes have competed among the best of the best from the United States and around the world. Saturday's race will be a great opportunity for our program to take the next step towards our goals of being a national championship program that is filled with the best triathlon athletes in the NCAA."

Arizona opened up its inaugural season with a dual meet versus Arizona State on Saturday, Sept. 2, which saw the Wildcats come within seconds of knocking off the defending national champion Sun Devils. Prikrylová has been the top Wildcat performer and has already earned a spot on the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association's All-West Region Team.

Collegiate triathlon races are classified as sprint triathlons, which consist of 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer ride and a 5k run.

The program also announced its first full recruiting class earlier this week. The five-member class features elite international prospects with as well as some of the nation's best high school triathlon athletes. Arizona's recruiting class includes future Wildcats who have already competed in Junior Triathlon World Championships, USA Triathlon Youth National Championships and European Championships.
