PULLMAN, Wash. — The Arizona Wildcats (18-15, 6-12) used a pair of monster innings to cruise past the Washington State Cougars (21-13, 7-10) on a final score of 14-8 on Sunday afternoon at Bailey-Brayton Field.
The Wildcats finished the sixth inning trailing the Cougars 4-1 before plating seven runs in the top of the seventh and five more in the eighth to take a commanding lead. Washington State mounted one-run rallies in both the eighth and ninth but Arizona held on for their first Pac-12 road win of the year.
First baseman
Kiko Romero and third baseman
Tony Bullard both homered and drove in four runs apiece to fuel the Wildcats offense. Eight of Arizona's starting nine position players recorded a hit, with seven of them collecting multiple.
Starting pitcher
Aiden May did not factor into the decision after holding the Cougars to three runs on six hits over five innings of work. The right-hander struck out six and walked two on 96 pitches.
