TUCSON, Ariz. — One of the most accomplished sluggers in Arizona Baseball history, outfielder
Chase Davis, has been selected as a Second Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, the publication announced today.
This marks the first postseason All-America honor of Davis' career and the fourth straight year that Arizona has had at least one player on the NCBWA All-America rosters.
Davis, a native of California, blasted 21 home runs this season to give him 39 for his career, the third most in program history. His 21 long balls this year were tied with fellow Wildcat
Kiko Romero for the most in the Pac-12 at the time of the award recognition.
Across 57 games in his junior campaign Davis led the team with a career-best .362 batting average. The Wildcats everyday starting left fielder also picked up 71 runs scored, 17 doubles, two triples, 74 RBI, 43 walks, a .489 on-base percentage, and a .742 slugging percentage. Davis' 19 multi-RBI performances were second most on the team, while his 23 multi-hit efforts ranked fourth.
Defensively, Davis started 57 of the Wildcats 59 games in left field and posted a .964 fielding percentage while contributing an impressive five outfield assists with his arm.
Davis entered the year with high expectations as a unanimous Preseason All-American and more than delivered on the hype. In addition to this All-America selection he also earned Pac-12 All-Conference recognition, Pac-12 Baseball Tournament MVP honors, and a spot on the semifinalist lists for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy.
