IRVING, Texas – Senior midfielder
Gianna Christiansen was named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Wednesday. This is the first conference honor of her career.
Christiansen help Arizona split last weekend against UCF and Houston, starting both matches for the Wildcats. The Laguna Hills, California native scored her second brace of the season – and second of her career – to help Arizona beat UCF 3-2. Christiansen scored the first goal of the match in the 12th minute and won the match for Arizona on a made penalty kick in the 81st minute.
She has scored four game-winning goals this season which is tied for the lead in the Big 12 and 10th in the NCAA. Last week, Christiansen led Arizona with five points and also assisted Nicki Dallin's goal against the Knights.
Christiansen and the Cats return home for their final pair of Big 12 matches on Thursday against Kansas and on Sunday against Kansas State at Mulcahy Stadium.
