Wildcats Post Strong Performances at Stan Scott Invite and Razorback Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas / FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arizona Track & Field competed in the Stan Scott Invite and Multis hosted by Texas Tech and the Razorback Invitational hosted by Arkansas on Friday.
 
The Wildcats posted strong performances in both competitions, including five top-three finishes. At Texas Tech, Zach Landa finished second in the weight throw, Isaac Davis finished third in the 600y, Michael Ogbeiwi finished third in the weight throw, and Trayvion White-Austin finished third in the 60m. At Arkansas, Hollan Powers, the team's lone competitor at the meet, finished third in the pentathlon. The Wildcats also saw several personal and season-best performances on the day.

STAN SCOTT INVITE AND MULTIS
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
The Wildcats saw a flurry of personal bests in the men's weight throw along with two podium finishes. Zach Landa finished runner-up in the event with a personal best heave of 70-7.25 (21.52m). Four of Landa's six throws during his series surpassed his previous personal best. He was followed by teammate Michael Ogbeiwi, who placed third with a personal best throw of 65-3.25 (19.89m). Youssef Koudssi finished fifth for the Wildcats, also posting a personal best mark of 60-10.5 (18.55m). Both Ogbeiwi's and Koudssi's best throws came on their last of the competition. Additionally, Tyler Michelini finished eighth overall and Sam Hala'ufia placed ninth with a personal best throw.
 
In the women's weight throw, the Wildcats finished fourth and fifth overall. Tapenisa Havea placed fourth with a throw of 56-8 (17.27m) and Mackenna Orie finished fifth with a personal best heave of 56-2.75 (17.14m). Additionally, Lauryn Love placed eighth in the event.
 
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
In the first round of the men's 60m, Trayvion White-Austin (6.70) and James Onanubosi (6.80) both finished in the top 24 and advanced to the event's semi-finals. White-Austin won his heat and clocked the third-fastest time in the first round of the event. In the semi-finals of the event, White-Austin ran a time of 6.72 and finished sixth to advance to the event's finals. Onanubosi clocked a time of 6.79 in the semi-finals. In the event's finals, White-Austin clocked his fastest time of the day (6.68) to finish third overall in the event. Additionally, Tyson Tippett ran a time of 6.83, Ousman Jagne posted a time of 6.85, and Reinaldo Rodrigues clocked a personal best time in the first round of the event.
 
Isaac Davis and Christian Simmons finished third and fourth overall in the men's 600y. Davis clocked a time of 1:10.04 and Simmons ran a personal best time of 1:10.36.
 
Ava Simms finished fifth overall in the women's 400m with an indoor personal best time of 54.53. Camila Aguilar-Perez also posted an indoor personal best time in the event of 55.45.
 
In the first round of the women's 60m, McKenna Watson and Jade Brown both won their heats to advance to the semi-finals in the event. Watson clocked a personal best time of 7.41 and Brown ran a time of 7.51. In the semi-finals of the event, Watson finished 10th with a time of 7.44 and Brown clocked a time of 7.58. Additionally, Dakota Minor and Presley Money both matched their personal best in the event.
 
Diego Marquez clocked a personal best time in the men's 400m.
 
RAZORBACK INVITATIONAL
MULTIS HIGHLIGHTS
Hollan Powers was the lone Wildcat to compete at the Razorback Invitational making her season debut in the pentathlon. Powers started the day strong, winning the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.47. In the second event of the day, the high jump, Powers cleared a personal best height to place fifth in the event. Powers then finished fifth in the pentathlon shot put. In the next event, the long jump, Powers posted a personal best leap of 19-1.5 (5.83m) to finish second. She won the final event of the day, the 800m, with a big personal best time of 2:13.69. Powers finished third in the pentathlon competition with a personal best score of 4066.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats will not have anyone competing in the Razorback Invitational on Saturday, but they will continue with day two of the Stan Scott Invite and Multis. On Saturday, field events begin at 10:00 a.m. MST and running events begin at 11:00 a.m. MST. The meet can be streamed on ESPN+ ($) here and live results can be found here.
