WACO, Texas- No. 30 Arizona Women's Tennis (18-9 overall, 8-5 Big 12) is set to open play in the Big 12 Championship Tournament, hosted by Baylor from Wednesday, April 16 to Sunday, April 20.
The Wildcats earned the five-seed and a first-round bye in the tournament. They will begin their postseason run in Match #5 on Thursday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m. MST, facing the winner of Wednesday's match between No. 12 seed Utah and No. 13 seed Cincinnati. Arizona defeated both teams 4-0 during the regular season at home.
The Wildcats are anchored by a strong doubles lineup featuring No. 37 Danielle Tuhten and Josie Usereau, as well as No. 65 Midori Castillo and Martyna Ostrzygalo. In singles, Arizona boasts two ranked players: No. 61 Josie Usereau and No. 123 Midori Castillo.
Arizona is coming off a 4-1 loss to Texas Tech to close out the regular season but looks to rebound quickly in tournament play. If the Wildcats advance on Thursday, they will face off against No. 4 seed Baylor in the quarterfinals on Friday at 12:00 p.m MST. Baylor swept Arizona 4-0 in their regular season meeting.
