2017-18: Earned an NCAA B cut in the 50 free (22.68) and 100 fly (54.25) at Pac-12 Championships…Set a personal best in the 100 fly…Finished in the top-five seven times throughout the season across various events…Finished 20^th at Pac-12 Championships in the 100 fly…Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention…CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention.

2016-17: Finished 1st in the 50 freestyle vs. NAU/OSU/NMSU (23.64)…Had the fourth-fastest team time with 22.57 in the 50 free, which is a personal best and NCAA B qualifier…Earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention…A CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention.

2015-16: Earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention honors…Finished third in the C final of the 100 fly (54.73) and sixth in the C final of the 50 free (23.02) at Pac-12 Championships…At the Texas Invitational, took seventh in the B final of the 50 free (23.12) and eighth in the B final of the 100 free (51.42)…Placed second in the 200 free relay at the Texas Invite to help the team to an NCAA ‘A’ cut.

2014-15: Joined the team in the spring season…Earned All-American Honorable Mention honors in the 200 free relay at NCAAs with Taylor Schick, Bonnie Brandon and Paige Kremer after finishing 11th (1:28.27)…At Pac-12 Championships, took second in the C final of the 50 free (22.99) for a ‘B’ cut, 29th in the prelims of the 100 fly and 26th in the prelims of the 100 free…Tied for fifth in the 50 free against Texas/SMU…Against ASU, she finished fourth in 50 free (23.24) and fifth in the 100 free (50.69).

Prior to Arizona: Was a member of the Finnish National Team…Competed at the 2013 European Championships, where she won two medals…Received a silver medal in the 4x50 free relay and a bronze medal in the 4x50 mixed IM relay.

Personal: Born Laura Eveliina Kurki in April of 1994 to Risto and Liisa Kurki…Has two older sisters, Tiina and Maija…Planned major in Care, Health and Society at Arizona…Likes to sleep and hang out with friends in her free time…Originally planned to be a skier, not a swimmer…Competed in her first cross country competition at the age of two…Chose Arizona because it has a “good sprint program and perfect weather for training outdoors all year”.
