AUSTIN, Texas – Arizona men's and women's swimming wrapped up day two of the Texas Invitational with a pair of first-place finishes and 33 total NCAA cuts. The women earned 18 total cuts, 16 'B' cuts in addition to two 'A' cuts from the relays. The men notched 15 total NCAA cuts, 14 'B' cuts and one 'A' cut.
The women kicked off the finals with a victory in the 200 free relay for an NCAA 'A' cut. Sophomore
Katrina Konopka, sophomore
Annie Ochitwa, junior
Laura Kurki and junior
Morgan Ginnis won the event with a time of 1:27.67.
Konopka later tallied her third win of the invitational and first individual victory after taking first in the 50 free for a 'B' cut with 21.90. Ochitwa finished fourth in the event (22.28) while Ginnis took seventh (22.75), both notching a provisional cut. Kurki, freshman

Paige Kremer also earned 'B' cuts in the event.
The Arizona women continued their success in relays, placing second in the 400 medley relay. The team of sophomore

Kennedy Lohman, Ochitwa and Konopka touched with a time of 3:30.26 for a second relay 'A' cut.
In her first Texas Invitational, freshman
Hannah Cox was runner-up in the 500 free with 4:38.38 earning a 'B' cut. Sophomore
Emma McCarthy placed fifth in the event (4:42.72) followed by freshman
Kirsten Jacobsen (4:43.82), both for 'B' cuts. Sophomore
Daniela Georges and junior
Tjasa Oder also notched provisional cuts.
Despite not having swimmers in the top eight of the 200 IM, the Cats had five women earn 'B' cuts (sophomore

Mik Ranslem).
Leading off the night for the men was the team of sophomore

J.P. Beach. The men took third in the 200 free relay for an NCAA 'A' cut with a time of 1:17.13.

Nick Thorne then gave a strong performance in the 200 IM, finishing second with a time 1:44.57 and a 'B' cut. Also earning provisional cuts were junior

Thane Maudslien, freshman
Steven Medvedev and sophomore
Mathias Oh.
The Cats added another relay 'B' cut after taking fourth in the 400 medley relay with 3:08.02 (Dobbs, sophomore
Blair Bish, Idensohn and Beach).

Chris Wieser placed eighth in the 500 free for an NCAA 'B' cut with 4:20.42. Freshman

Jerad Kaskawal also tallied 'B' cuts in the event.
While the Cats didn't land swimmers in the A final (top eight) of the 50 free, Idensohn, Beach, Richmond and freshman
Jorge Iga each tallied a provisional cut in the event.
