We open a new year's worth of Wildcat Wednesdays with heavy hearts as we continue to mourn the passing of Arizona track and field student-athlete Lezo Urreiztieta from complications following brain surgery. A junior from Tucson, Lezo competed in the hurdles under the direction of head coach Fred Harvey, and was a graduate of Canyon del Oro High School. In addition to his success on the track, Lezo was an excellent student, twice earning academic all-conference honors.
We continue to send our sincerest sympathies and deepest prayers to Lezo's family and friends. The unfortunate passing of someone so young and full of life affects us all. He was an excellent student, in addition to being a valued member of our track team and the Arizona Athletics community. Lezo is survived by his parents, Izaro and Melissa Urreiztieta, and brother, Gaizka.Â
PAC-12 BASKETBALL IS HERE
Coach Miller and the men's basketball team had an outstanding non-conference season. You can't get any better than 13-0 and ranked No. 1 in the nation! Now begins the quest for a Pac-12 championship, starting with a home game vs. Washington State tomorrow at 8 p.m. Single-game tickets have been a hot commodity, especially for Pac-12 games, so follow @APlayersProgram on Twitter to be one of the first fans notified when single-game tickets are released for purchase. There is still a way to reserve the same seat for every remaining home game. We have a very limited amount of seats available for season tickets. To get more information, click here and fill out the online form. A Wildcat Club representative will contact you soon. Besides having the same seats for this potentially historic basketball season, you'll also have the ability to renew those seats for next year. Fill out the form for more information.
MCKALE SCOREBOARD TO DEBUT THURSDAY
If you've been on social media during the holidays, you've seen photos of our beautiful new scoreboard. We've had a number of dedicated staffers working throughout the holidays to get the new board installed and ready to go for Pac-12 play. Larger than the previous edition, the new state-of-the-art, high-definition scoreboard features four 12' x 19' Panasonic video boards, a static ring on top for promotional opportunities and two LED rings. So, if you're in attendance Thursday, you'll not only get to see the nation's top-ranked team open conference play, but you'll get to see the new scoreboard in operation for the first time.

NEW YEAR, NEW SEASON TICKETS
Congratulations to the 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl Champions. What a great performance by the Wildcats in defeating Boston College, 42-19, on New Year's Eve. That's two consecutive eight-win seasons and two straight bowl victories for Arizona. Coach Rodriguez and his staff have built a solid foundation over the last two seasons and now we need you to jump on board and help us get where we all want to go. For current season ticket holders, your renewals will be e-mailed later this month. For those who didn't purchase season tickets last year, we are currently accepting deposits for new season tickets. $100 per seat will guarantee yourself season tickets for the 2014 season. You'll receive a call from the McKale Ticket Office to discuss location and finalize your order. We're looking forward to hosting seven home games next year. The schedule of dates won't be released until later this month, but we know the opponents coming to Arizona Stadium: UNLV, Nevada, California, Colorado, USC, Washington and our rivals from up north. We talk about the ways our fans can support Arizona Athletics and buying season tickets is at the top of the list. We hope you will be a season ticket holder in 2014. Click here to put down a deposit today.Â
A-CLUB PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING EVENT
The A-Club would like to invite alumni letterwinners who are working professionals to join us for a unique networking opportunity. This is a great chance to meet senior student-athletes who will be navigating life after collegiate sports. This event will allow Arizona alumni letterwinners to offer support and guidance to help our student-athletes network and prepare for the professional world. The networking event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 in the Jim Click Hall of Champions. Â If you are an alumni letterwinner who is interested, please contact the A-Club at (520) 621-9272.
COMPLIANCE CORNER
With the new year upon us, there will be changes to the NCAA rules. The membership of our organization will meet later this month in San Diego to discuss and then implement the new rules as well as changes to old ones. Once we have the updates in place, I will share them with you in this space.
ARIZONA NUGGETS
Men's Basketball is the only team in the country that ranks in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive rebounding percentage … Women's Basketball is currently on a three-game winning streak.
