Wildcat Wednesday

Wildcat Wednesday - Homecoming!

After beating a nationally ranked opponent for a second consecutive week with our thrilling 27-24 win over No. 11 Oregon State, Arizona Football will host No. 20 UCLA for Saturday's Homecoming game at 7:30 p.m. (MST) on FS1. The program will welcome Rob Gronkowski back to campus as an honorary captain as Rob will also be inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame on Friday evening.

There's nothing quite like enjoying a Wildcat football game at Arizona Stadium, which is a hallmark of Saturdays in the fall in Southern Arizona. Saturday's game versus the Bruins will be the centerpiece of a weekend full of homecoming activities. Homecoming is one of my favorite times of the year as we welcome back generations of the Wildcat Family to recognize and celebrate what makes being a Wildcat special. Our campus partners have a plethora of festivities this weekend, which you can see here . If you don't have your tickets for Saturday's game, please make your plans to join us.

Sports Hall of Fame Spotlight
The induction of the 2023 Arizona Sports Hall of Fame class is upon us with Friday's ceremony at Westin La Paloma. It will be a memorable evening as we recognize eight tremendous Wildcats who embody excellence, which we will highlight in next week's Wildcat Wednesday email.
Our ongoing feature series on these eight exceptional Wildcats continues as we highlight track and field national champion, Beloved Promise. She competed as a six-time NCAA National Champion, eight-time All-American, Olympic silver medalist, and repeated record breaker in the high jump. While at Arizona she tallied three conference championships, set the school record in the indoor and outdoor high jump, excelled in the classroom to the tune of two CoSIDA Academic All-America selections, and earned the 2013 Pac-12 Woman of the Year award.

Promise's domination of the high jump continued outside the friendly confines of collegiate athletics, boasting four medals in international competition and a pair of USA championships, among other accomplishments. Congrats Beloved and Bear Down!

Soccer Faces the Sun Devils
Arizona Soccer, fresh off a big road win at Utah on Sunday, returns to Tucson for its final match of the season with a Friday match against Arizona State at 7 p.m. (MST) at Mulcahy Stadium. Senior goalkeeper Hope Hisey became the program's all-time saves leader last week and looks to rewrite more of the record book against the Sun Devils.

We've had some great crowds at Mulcahy Stadium this season, and we are hoping to see our biggest crowd yet on Friday night versus the Sun Devils.Click here to get your tickets for this match . Bear Down and Go Cats!

Are you ready for basketball season? Both our women's and men's programs will play their first official games in McKale Center next week, beginning with Coach Lloyd and the Wildcats. Arizona Men's Basketball will open the 2023-24 season on Monday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. (MST) when it hosts Morgan State. This game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks as well as on Wildcats Radio 1290 with Brian Jeffries and Ryan Hansen on the call.

Coach Barnes and Arizona Women's Basketball will also tip off their season on Monday evening. The Wildcats will travel down I-10 to Las Cruces. The Wildcats will face the New Mexico State Aggies at 6 p.m. (MST). The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+ in addition to Derrick Palmer's radio call on KTUC 1400 AM in Tucson. They will then go on to face off the NAU lumberjacks in McKale on Friday at 6:30 PM.
