Moga, Stoian Score to Lead Wildcats Over NAU 2-0

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's soccer team defeated NAU on Saturday afternoon by a score of 2-0. The match was played at a neutral location, Paradise Valley Community College. Brynn Moga found the back of the net early with a header over the top of the NAU goalkeeper, and Gabi Stoian scored late to put the game away. The Wildcats are now 3-0-0 in their spring season of play.

NAU got the ball in over the top, but Leah Carillo showcased her speed to break the attack down and clear the danger.

Arizona earned a free kick down low, at the corner of the 18-yd. box. Gabi Stoian took the kick but it went into the hands of the NAU keeper.

Crisler got a cross in across the 6-yd. mark, but NAU got to it first.

Meredith Reinhardt got the nod to start in the cage for Arizona in the second half of play.

NAU got an early corner that yielded no results.

Crisler made a deep run into NAU territory but her cross was cleared by the defense.

Stoian made a strong play to take the ball into the NAU box, beating 3 players. She was dragged down in the box but the whistle favored NAU.

Kennedy Kieneker fired a quick volley but it went wide of the frame.

NAU slotted a through ball past the Arizona back line, but Zoe Barrie chased it down and broke up the attack.

Crisler took a shot from the top of the 18-yd. mark, forcing the NAU keeper to dive left to make a save.

Stoian followed Brandi Park's shot and rolled the ball across the goal line for an easy second tally late.

Arizona is back in action on Saturday, April 22 in Tucson, Ariz. against New Mexico at 1 p.m. MST, and then Sunday, April 23 for New Mexico State at 12 p.m.
