Wildcat Wednesday

Wildcat Wednesday - Football Season Ticket Renewal Deadline is May 1

FIVE DAYS TO RENEW YOUR FOOTBALL TICKETS

I had the opportunity to meet quite a few fans at our Football Fan Appreciation Day last weekend. Seeing fans interact with our players and coaches, showing everyone our facilities, and being on the field at Arizona Stadium got me excited for the upcoming season. While I know last season's record wasn't what our program and fans had hoped for, from my perspective, overall, the football program has had a very good five-year run under Coach Rodriguez. Four bowl games and winning the Pac-12 South are positives we can continue to build on. I'm looking forward to my first season and joining many of you at Arizona Stadium this fall.

With that in mind, the football season ticket renewal deadline of May 1 is only five days away. Let's stay committed to the Wildcat football program that we all love. Football season ticket sales are critical to the success of not only the football program, but all of our sports. Season tickets support our department in a number of ways and help us provide the best experience possible for our student-athletes. We want to thank those of you who have already renewed or purchased new season tickets. You make a huge difference. We're hopeful all of our 2016 season ticket holders will continue to support the program and department by renewing for the upcoming year. If you haven't yet, you can click HERE to renew online today.

COME OUT TO THE PAC-12 BEACH VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

We're excited to be hosting the 2017 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championships at Bear Down Beach on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Your 2017 Beach Cats are ranked No. 8 in the country and will contend for a Pac-12 title against teams such as No. 1 USC and No. 2 UCLA. The Wildcats feature some of the top beach volleyball players in the conference with the likes of Madison and McKenna Witt, Olivia Hallaran, Olivia Macdonald, Hailey Devlin and Sam Manley.

Thursday will be full of team play as matches begin at 9 a.m., with the last match scheduled for 8 p.m. Team play will resume at 9 a.m. on Friday morning and the champion will be crowned after the 1 p.m. championship match. The Pairs Championship will begin shortly after the Team Championship finishes with the first round beginning at 3 p.m. and the second round starting at 4 p.m. Pairs matches should last until roughly 6 p.m. on Friday. Saturday is for the Pairs as the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship matches will take place at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

I'm excited to join some of our head coaches in Tempe for our annual Road Tour stop on Wednesday, May 3. We will have a chance to speak and visit with the crowd as well as answer a few questions.

Drinks will be available for purchase. To help us get an approximation on a head count, we ask that you RSVP by clicking HERE.

MAUGA BECOMES UA SOFTBALL'S ALL-TIME HOME RUN QUEEN

During our series-clinching win over No. 6 Oregon on Saturday, Katiyana Mauga hit her 88th career home run, breaking Stacie Chambers' Arizona career home run record. The home run was her 21st of the season and fifth of the week. The national and conference player of the week, Kati became the only player in NCAA history to hit at least 20 home runs in each of her four seasons. Her 88th homer moved her into third place in NCAA history, trailing only UCLA's Stacey Nuveman, who holds the Pac-12 record with 90 homers, and Oklahoma's Lauren Chamberlain, the NCAA record holder with 95 home runs. Kati will have six regular-season games, plus Arizona's NCAA Tournament run, to hit seven homers and match the NCAA record. Congratulations on this great accomplishment and good luck on your chase for the Pac-12 and NCAA records.
