
Cats Cruise Past Western New Mexico 95-44

Brandon Randolph leads all players with 20 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting night.
TUCSON, Ariz. – Sophomore guard Brandon Randolph scored a game-high 20 points Tuesday night to lead the Arizona Wildcats to a 95-44 win over Western New Mexico at McKale Center in the team's first exhibition game of the season.
Randolph was a perfect 5 of 5 from 3-point range and 6 of 8 from the field in 24 minutes. He also grabbed four rebounds, had three assists and three steals. The Wildcats shot 58 percent from the floor and knocked down 11 3-pointers in the win.
Four other Wildcats scored in double digits, including freshman guard Brandon Williams, who had 14 points. Senior forward Ryan Luther had 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Ira Lee and Emmanuel Akot each finished with 10 points. Point guard Justin Coleman had a game-high six assists.
Western New Mexico scored the opening bucket of the game, before seeing Arizona go on a 21-0 on run to grab a 21-2 lead with 12:18 to play in the first half. Dylan Smith capped the run with a jumper.
The Cats led by as many as 53 in the win and never led by fewer than 19 after the 21-0 run early in the first.
Arizona will play next on Sunday at 7 p.m., against Chaminade in its final exhibition game.

- Arizona assisted on 21 of 37 field goals in the win with three players – Justin Coleman, Brandon Williams and Emmanuel Akot – totaling three or more helpers.
- The Wildcats outrebounded Western New Mexico 50-30. The Cats had eight different players total four or more rebounds with Ryan Luther leading the way with eight. Dylan Smith added seven rebounds – all defensive – and Justin Coleman finished with five boards.
- The 44 points allowed were the fewest in an exhibition game since giving up 35 to the College of Idaho in 2016. Arizona won that contest 86-35.
- Arizona's 11 3-pointers were the most in an exhibition game since hitting 11 against Humboldt State in 2012. The Cats hadn't hit more than seven 3-pointers since hitting 11 against Humboldt State.
