GCU Defeats Arizona 2-1 in Last Home Spring Match

Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's soccer team fell to the GCU Lopes by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in Tucson, Ariz. In the third minute of the match, Hannah Clifford crossed the ball to Amanda Porter who redirected the ball into the net, putting the Cats in the lead. GCU fired back in the eighth minute, scoring a goal to knot the score at 1-1. Eight minutes before half time, GCU put in a second goal to take the lead at 2-1. The Wildcats came out extremely aggressive in the second half, but could not put in any more goals.
 
"It is a different situation, nine versus nine on a condensed field", said head coach Tony Amato. "I thought it would be an exercise better than training today. Grand Canyon played really well. You have to give them a lot of credit for their approach to the game today."
Arizona will finish up their Spring season on Tuesday April 17th at 1 pm in Case Grande, Ariz. Vs. the Del Sol u14 boys team.
