TEAMING UP FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Giving back to the Southern Arizona community that supports all our programs is at the core of our athletics department. Community service is a vital component of our student-athlete experience and is a huge part of the work done by our coaches and staff.
Coach Miller and Coach Barnes have teamed up for our latest example of #CatsGiveBack. They are hosting toy drives this week in support of the Boys & Girls Club of Tucson. Arizona Women's Basketball will hold a Teddy Bear Toss at Thursday's game versus Tennessee State at 6:30 p.m. (MST). Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal as a donation and join the rest of the McKale crowd in tossing them onto the court at halftime.
Donated, unwrapped toys will be accepted at the entrances of McKale Center on Saturday night ahead of Arizona Men's Basketball's 8 p.m. (MST) game versus No. 6 Gonzaga. Drop off your donated gift, for boys and girls ages 7 to 12, in the bins near each entrance on your way into the game.
Both head coaches will host a special event later this month to deliver the donated toys to the Boys & Girls Club of Tucson. Thank you for helping our athletics department make a difference in our community!

SWIMMING RECAP FROM MIDWEST
Arizona Swimming & Diving turned in an excellent performance at the Minnesota Invitational last week, the first championship meet of the 2019-20 season. Competing against some of the best teams in the nation, both our men's and women's teams had plenty of very strong individual performances that give the program a lot of confidence moving into the spring championship portion of the schedule.
In Minnesota, our swimmers earned 58 total NCAA-qualifying cuts, including three NCAA "A" cuts, which are automatic qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. On the men's side, Arizona won five races; only defending national champion Cal (six) and defending national runners-up Texas (12) had more. Brooks Fail won a gold, a silver and a bronze at the meet and swam the second fastest 500 freestyle and 1650 freestyle as well as third fastest 1000 freestyle in the country this year. The men's team currently sits in eighth in the national rankings.
The Cats will be back in the pool for a home meet at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center on Thursday, Jan. 2 and Friday, Jan. 3 as they will look for more impressive performances.
