Nation's Top Two Offenses Meet at Hi Corbett on Tuesday

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Arizona Wildcats (12-7, 2-1), owners of the second-highest-scoring offense in the country, will play host to the nation's top scoring team, the New Mexico State Aggies (15-4), on Tuesday night at Hi Corbett Field. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. MST, with the game programed to be broadcast on Pac-12 Network.

The Wildcats currently ranks among the nation's elite at the plate, placing in the top 10 in nearly every offensive category. They are led by juniors Cameron Cannon and Matt Fraizer, who pace the Pac-12 and are tied for third in the NCAA with 35 base hits.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Infielder Cameron Cannon has smacked 12 doubles through the first 19 games of the season...As of games played March 17, Cannon's 12 two-baggers are tied for first among all NCAA Division I baseball players (also: Nate Fassnacht, George Washington; Oliver Dunn, Utah)...Cannon has registered multiple doubles in a game twice this year, and has swatted at least one double in 9-of-19 games...Cannon smacked a team-best 21 doubles in 56 games last season...The Arizona single-season record for doubles is 30, set by Dave Stegman in 1976 and tied by JJ Matijevic in 2017...Cannon is currently on pace for 35 doubles through the remainder of the regular season...He is 16 doubles shy of breaking into the Top 10 of Arizona's career doubles leaderboard.

TATER HOT: Outfielder Tate Soderstrom has excelled in limited action this year for the Wildcats...In just 32 at-bats, Soderstrom has driven in 16 RBI, tied for the fourth-most on the team this year...The two players he's tied with at 16 RBI (Austin Wells, Matthew Dyer) both have logged over double the at-bats that Soderstrom has seen in his 15 games (five starts)...Soderstrom's seven multi-RBI games are tied with Nick Quintana and Matt Fraizer for the most on the team...Tate has at least one base hit in 10-of-15 games this year and has collected an RBI in 9-of-15 contests...Among players on the team with at least 10 at-bats with runners in scoring position, Soderstrom's .500 (7x14) batting average is the second-best mark on the squad...He has also collected the second-most bases-loaded hits this year, going 3-for-5 with the bases juiced (first: Matt Fraizer, 5-for-8).

ON THE BOARD: The Wildcats have scored at least one run in 57 straight games, with their last shutout loss coming all the way back on March 17, 2018 at Washington...The Cats 57-game scoring streak is the longest active streak among Pac-12 teams (next: Oregon, 27 games)...Even more impressive is the club's ability to avoid being shut out at home, with the Cats last blanking at Hi Corbett coming on April 25, 2015 against Cal - they have registered 114 straight home games without being kept off the scoreboard...During that 114 game stretch the Wildcats have been held to just one run twice, while posting 5+ runs 80 times...The Cats haven't been limited to just one run at home since May 15, 2016 against Arizona State.

ONE-TWO PUNCH: Infielder Cameron Cannon and outfield Matt Fraizer, have provided prodigious offense up top in the Wildcats lineup this year...The duo has combined to hit .429 (70x163) with 49 runs scored, 18 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 49 RBI, 107 total bases, 17 walks, and a .492 on-base percentage...Fraizer and Cannon have combined to reached base 19 times in 42 chances as the leadoff hitter in an inning, setting up the Wildcats with a leadoff runner on base 45.2% of the times they've had the chance...But it's not just setting up the scoring that they've excelled at; Cannon (.538) and Fraizer (.474) have both posted batting averages north of .400 with runners in scoring position, collecting 32 RISP hits between the two of them...When it's all said and done, Fraizer and Cannon have accounted for nearly 25% of the Wildcats runs and over 27% of their RBI this season.
