TUCSON, Ariz. -- The 14th-ranked Arizona beach volleyball team is set for a Wednesday doubleheader in Irvine, California, where they will take Irvine Valley College and Vanguard College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. MST. The event will take place at Irvine Valley College.
The Wildcats (4-2) head to California following a 1-2 week at the highly-competitive Pac-12 South Invitational in Tucson last week. Arizona defeated Oregon (4-1) but dropped matches to No. 2 USC (0-5) and No. 12 Stanford (2-3).Â
Arizona has been led in part by its strong freshman duo of
Jasmine Safar and
Sarah Blacker, who have a team-best 5-1 record, including a match-clinching win over Boise State's Jensen Allen and Ellie McDonald.
The Cats open the event vs the host Lasers; Irvine Valley College is 3-1 this season and have won three consecutive matches entering its home event. Arizona was originally scheduled to face Concordia-Irvine in the second half of the doubleheader, but the Eagles were unable to attend the event. The Wildcats will now take on NAIA Vanguard College, which is 2-3 this season.
