Tucson, ARIZ., -- Forward Hannah Clifford, like most of U of A students, finished the remainder of her semester outside of Tucson. The soon to be Senior returned to her hometown of Salem, Ore to continue her academic studies. Here is how she stayed motivated, stayed busy, and what she has learned through it all. 

How did the remainder of the semester go for you?
"It was difficult to transition to a completely online format at first but after a couple weeks of that it was fine."

What kept you motivated in school? (during quarantine)
"It was hard to stay motivated towards the end of the semester because I didn't have a schedule anymore and I was just at home all the time. Towards the end of the semester I was just motivated to be done with my classes."

Where did you finish the semester?
"Salem, OR"

What kept you motivated to stay active? (during quarantine) 
"Just to have something to do! I was quarantined in my house for more than a month, I barely left the house and being able to go outside to workout or go in my garage to workout was something I looked forward to doing. It was just something that I could focus on other than being stuck in the house."

What are you doing now to stay in shape?
"I go to the field with my sister and we workout together and play soccer together and I stay motivated by having someone to workout with to keep me accountable."

What are you doing now to stay busy? (any fun hobbies or activities)
"I got a job at a pizza place so I have been working to stay busy."

What are you most looking forward to for next season/semester?
"I look forward to being back with my teammates again. It is expected that the season will not look like it normally does this year and same with the school year but I just hope to be back on campus with my team and also that we get to play some games."

Have you learned anything about yourself since quarantine started?
"I have learned to appreciate having a schedule and staying busy. After being in quarantine for so long, I learned how much I love to have things to do and having responsibilities. I missed my schedule in Arizona including going to class in person, soccer practices and meetings, and just seeing people throughout the day while I was out of the house."

What is the best thing to come out of quarantine?
"The ability for students across the country to be able to go out and protest the death of George Floyd and the police brutality against black people that has been causing so much injustice for so long. I think because everybody was home many people were able to go out and support the movement and the protests were stronger in numbers in the recent weeks because of that."
