HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

Arizona Athletics is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, which is an important annual recognition for our entire athletics department. Hispanic Heritage Month is a key celebration that we proudly support alongside our campus partners and community. We will be sharing the tremendous stories of past and current student-athletes as we pay tribute to the rich Hispanic culture of Southern Arizona. Over the upcoming weeks, we will reflect on some of our traditions, share new artwork and release special content on social media, ArizonaWildcats.com, our Hispanic Heritage homepage, and future Wildcat Wednesday emails.

A-CLUB WINNERS

The Extra Yard for Teachers giveaway ended this past Monday. Fifteen of our hardworking former Arizona student-athletes joined us on Zoom where we randomly selected two winners to receive $1,900 from the College Football Playoff Foundation. We want to congratulate our winners!

Women's Basketball and Track & Field Letterwinner (2005), Donnisha "CoCoa" Sanford, a high school special education teacher at Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, CA.

The A-Club also surprised a third letterwinner with a $1,000 gift card to donorschoose.com, a website that provides educational materials including musical instruments, lab equipment, art supplies, and sports equipment.

Congratulations to Football letterwinner (2011), David Hill. David is a teacher at Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas, NV.

CAMPUS RECOGNITION

campus-accolade

The University of Arizona continues to raise its national profile as a top public university as it jumped 20 spots in this year's U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges rankings. UArizona posted an all-time high score of 61, and its overall ranking of 97 marked its first appearance in the top 100 nationally since 2009.

Our athletics department is proud to be a part of this campus and this community, and national recognition and awards are a point of pride for the entire Wildcat Family.

STUDENT-ATHLETE PEN PALS

We would like to encourage teachers in grades K-8 to sign-up for our Student-Athlete Pen Pal program. Through this initiative, a student-athlete volunteer will correspond with your classroom through handwritten letters. Students will gain the opportunity to develop a connection with an older, positive role model while improving their reading and writing skills. To enroll your classroom in the Pen Pal program, please fill out the online form.

CALLING ALL KIDCATS

Have a young Wildcat in the family that is in kindergarten through eighth grade? The Arizona KidCats Club, presented by Hughes Federal Credit Union, is a great way to connect children to Arizona Athletics and the University of Arizona. Memberships start at just $15, and you can click here to sign up. Together, We Bear Down, and that includes Wildcats of all ages.

WEAR THE COLORS – SHARE THE PHOTOS

Send us your photos of you wearing the colors while staying safe!

Thank you for wearing the colors and sharing your Arizona pride! Make sure to take a picture the next time you are wearing the colors and send it to us, we just might include it in next week's Wildcat Wednesday! And even if your photo submission doesn't make  next week's edition, please check our "Wear the Colors" album at facebook.com/ArizonaAthletics on Fridays.

NOTE: Please submit photos for Wildcat Wednesday with an original email to uofaad@arizona.edu using the subject line 'Wildcat Wednesday photo.' Also, please ensure all submissions are clear and properly lit. We also ask that you identify everyone in the photo so we can highlight them accordingly.
