Wildcat Wednesday

Wildcat Wednesday - Let's Sell Out Mulcahy Stadium!

Arizona Soccer returns home to the friendly confines of Mulcahy Stadium this weekend, and we want to see the Wildcat Family fill the stands. The Wildcats will host No. 2 UCLA on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. (MST), and we are giving away free Wildcat fanny packs to the first 125 fans who arrive at the stadium.

The competitive atmosphere we create for our student-athletes to compete in represents a key element of how we live the Wildcat Way. We have proudly led the Pac-12 Conference in ticketed attendance the last two years, and you all make a difference in the experiences of the outstanding young men and women who wear the Block A.

If you don't have tickets for Thursday's soccer match, please click here. We will also be hosting a fan tailgate with additional giveaways for Sunday's match versus USC at 1 p.m. (MST). See you at the stadium this weekend!

FAN SPOTLIGHT
We would like to recognize a very special member of the Wildcat Family in this week's email. Vicente Alfaro is 101 years old and has been cheering on the Wildcats for nearly a century! He attended the original Arizona Stadium dedication in 1929 and was in the stands for Arizona's first football game played at night in 1931.

Mr. Alfaro enrolled at the University of Arizona in 1941 before serving his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He's been cheering on the Wildcats for over 90 seasons as one of the original members of the Knot-Hole group of fans during the 1930's. He's attended, watched and listened to hundreds of Arizona Football games throughout his life in Southern Arizona.

With his 102nd birthday on the horizon in January, Mr. Alfaro continues to tune in and cheer on his Wildcats and proudly singing "Bear Down, Arizona". We'd like to thank Vicente Alfaro and his family for their tremendous support of Arizona Athletics. Bear Down and Go Cats!

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH & ARIZONA ATHLETICS
Our department's ongoing celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month continued into last week. In addition to hosting our annual Hispanic Heritage Night football game at Arizona Stadium and other campus collaborations, we added a new feature to this year's recognition.
We recorded a special Hispanic Heritage Month episode of the Bear Down Podcast exclusively in Spanish. Led by a trio of student-athletes that include Sofia Maldonado Diaz from Arizona Volleyball, Mara Cabanillas from Arizona Women's Golf and Diana Ramos from Arizona Track & Field. You can watch the episode on YouTube or listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

Arizona Athletics continues to grow the ways we celebrate our diversity as part of who we are. We remain committed to being respectful and courageous in valuing the richly diverse community of student-athletes, coaches and staff that make us excellent. We are better when we work together and value different opinions and experiences. It's what makes us Arizona Wildcats!

SUPPORTING NIL OPPORTUNITIES FOR WILDCATS
As we have highlighted numerous times in Wildcat Wednesday emails, our athletics department is dedicated to supporting Name, Image and Likeness opportunities for all Wildcats as part of our "Wildcat Way" student-athlete experience. One of our newest initiatives ways is helping student-athletes grow their brand through our partnership with Learfield and the business community.

Arizona Wildcat Sports Properties is proud to offer a diverse mix of marketing assets to help you grow your business with Arizona Athletics. Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) is now another asset you can use to enhance your brand messaging with the influence of Wildcat student-athletes. Our NIL Manager, Alanna-Rose Arechederra-Romero, can create a marketing plan – (delete hyphen) from start to finish – (delete hyphen) to help achieve your goals and assist with activation requirements for your entire NIL campaign.

If you're interested in learning more about NIL opportunities and how your brand can partner and align with our student-athletes, please contact Alanna at 520-626-3356 or at Alanna.ARomero@Learfield.com.
