Arizona Wins Share of Third-Straight Pac-12 Regular Season Title

EUGENE, Ore. - The 10th-ranked Arizona men's tennis team won a share of the Pac-12 Regular Season Championship for the third consecutive season on Sunday with a 4-1 win over No. 57 Oregon.

The title is the third in program history and is shared with No. 20 Stanford.

The Wildcats locked up the No. 2 seed in the Pac-12 Tennis Championships with the win and will face the No. 7 seed at 3:00 p.m. MST Thursday, April 25 in Ojai, Calif. The seven seed in the tournament will be determined with the outcome of the USC versus Utah match later today.

Oregon held the advantage going into singles play after taking the doubles point. The Ducks began the day with No. 46 Matthew Burton and Quinn Vandecasteele's 6-2 defeat of No. 29 Colton Smith and Jay Friend, but the Wildcats answered with a win of their own on court two as Herman Hoeyeraal and Eric Padgham took down Ray Lo and Lenn Luemkemann 6-2.

The point came down to court three where Vlad Breazu and Avi Shugar were able to get a 6-3 win over Sasha Rozin and Gustaf Strom to clinch the team point.

Arizona won all six first sets in singles, and Casper Christensen made quick work of his singles match to get Arizona on the board. Christensen defeated Luemkemann 6-1, 6-1.

Nick Lagaev was the next Wildcat to victory, defeating Lo 6-4, 6-1 on court six before No. 20 Smith defeated 83rd-ranked Vandecasteele 6-2, 7-6(1) on court one to put Arizona one match away from clinching the team win.

It was Hoeyeraal who clinched the match for Arizona with his 7-6(2), 6-4 win over Burton.
