FORT WORTH, Texas - No. 15 Arizona Men's Tennis (15-4 overall, 0-2 Big 12) dropped their second conference match 2-4 against No. 2 Texas Christian University Friday afternoon in Fort Worth.
The Frogs secured an early lead after winning the doubles point. Court three finished first, where
Filip Gustafsson and
Casper Christensen lost 2-6 to Albert Pedrico and Duncan Chan. The deciding point was one court one, where No. 64
Colton Smith and Inaki Cabrera-Bello fell 3-6 to the No. 1 doubles team, Pedro Vives and Lui Maxted. No. 33
Jay Friend and
Eric Padgham's match remained unfinished at 4-4.
In singles play, the Cats took two early wins to tie up the score. Finishing first was No. 8
Jay Friend with a swift 6-0, 6-2 win over No. 20 Maxted. On court three,
Zoran Ludoski dropped his match 0-6, 3-6 against No. 72 Cooper Woestendick. Evening the score was No. 4 Smith on court one, with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over No. 15 Jack Pinnington.
Arizona went on to drop matches on courts five and four, where
Alexander Rozin and Gustafsson both lost in straight sets.
The Cats will head over to Waco for another ranked match up against No. 17 Baylor on Sunday, March 23, at 11:00 a.m. MST.
