TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 11 Arizona Men's Tennis (20-4 overall, 5-2 Big 12) earned its fourth consecutive conference sweep with a 4-0 victory over BYU on Saturday afternoon at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
On Senior Day, the Wildcats grabbed the early momentum with dominant doubles wins on courts two and three. The nation's No. 29 duo of Inaki Cabrera-Bello and Colton Smith cruised to a 6-0 win over Alex Edmonston and Hardy Owen. Casper Christensen and Filip Gustafsson clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Arizona stayed locked in through singles play, where three straight-set wins sealed the team result. Fourth-ranked Colton Smith kicked off the singles run with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win over Wally Thayne on court one. Following close behind was No. 5 Jay Friend, who defeated Zach Fuchs 6-3, 6-4. The sweep was clinched by senior Casper Christensen, who won 6-3, 6-4 on court five.
The Wildcats will conclude their regular season next weekend in Tempe, taking on in-state rival Arizona State.
