2017-18: Earned Pac-12 All-Academic First Team...Apart of the All-American Honorable Mention 400 medley relay team...Holds the eighth fastest 100 breast time in Arizona school history with 52.84 at Pac-12 Championships...Set a personal best and had the second fastest team time in the 200 breast with 1:55.61 at Pac-12 Championships, earning an NCAA B cut...Earned an NCAA A cut in the 200 medley relay at Pac-12 Championships...Won the 100 breast against Texas with 56.24...Pac-12 All-Academic First Team and CSCAA Scholar All-American.

2016-17: Finished 13^th at the Pac-12 championships with a team and personal best 1:56.70 in the 200 breaststroke earning an NCAA B cut…Finished 12^th in the Texas Invitational with 1:59.60 in the 200 breast and qualified for an NCAA B cut in the 100 breast with 53.63…Swam a personal best 20.20 in the 50 freestyle at the Pac-12 Championships, which was sixth fastest on the team…Earned Pac-12 All-Academic First Team…A CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention.

2015-16: Had the fourth-fastest times on the team in the 100 breast (53.75) and 200 breast (1:58.06)…At the Texas Invitational, finished seventh in the 100 breast with 54.22 and eighth in the 200 breast with 2:01.23…At the Pac-12 Championships, took fourth in the B final of the 100 breast (53.94) and second in the C final of the 200 breast (1:58.20) for NCAA ‘B’ cuts.

High School: A four-time letterwinner in the IM and breast at Metea Valley High School…Named team MVP all four years…Made the All-Conference and All-State teams his sophomore, junior and senior years…Named a NISCA All-American during the same years…Competed in Dublin, Ireland with his NCSA all-star team…Was an Academic All-American, Indian Prairie Scholar and received Magna Cum Laude honor…Holds the school records in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 medley relay…Team was the 2014 and 2015 Conference Champions.

Personal: Born Matthew Christopher Salerno  in November of 1996 to Joseph and Kristen Salerno…Has two older brothers, Justin and Brian…Planned major in Veterinary Sciences at Arizona…Likes to go out to eat with friends and volunteer in his free time…Chose Arizona over Michigan, Georgia, Missouri and Virginia because of the team atmosphere and beautiful campus.
