TUCSON, Ariz., -- The Wildcats suffered their second Pac-12 loss today as they were defeated 4-0 by No. 15 Cal Berkeley on Sunday afternoon at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center, putting the Cats at 8-12 on the season.

“Cal is a top 15 team and we were right there with them,” said head coach Tad Berkowitz. “We are knocking on the door it's just a matter of a little more execution and we can pick off some of the top teams.”

The Cats started the afternoon off in doubles play where they just couldn't keep up with Cal.  Will Adkisson and Naoki Takeda were beat by Mads Engsted and J.T. Nishimura 6-3 on court two.

 Jason Jaruvang and Shoki Kasahara were beat by Gunther Matta and Oskar Wikberg on court three, giving Cal the doubles point.

Will Kneale and Oliver Plaskett were up 5-4 on court one against Andre Goransson and Billy Griffith 5-4 until their match was abandoned.

Down 1-0, Arizona fought hard in singles play, pushing three of their matches to three sets. Harry Busby was defeated by Oskar Wikberg on court four 6-1, 6-2 while Jason Jaruvang was defeated by Felip Bergevi on court two 6-4, 6-2, giving Cal a 3-0 lead.

Shoki Kasahara fought hard, pushing Mads Engsted to three sets but ended up losing 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, giving Cal their fourth point.

Naoki Takeda was up in his third set with No. 40 Billy Griffith on court one before the match was abandoned.

 Will Kneale's match against No. 17 Andre Goransson was abandoned as well as Trent Botha's match against J.T. Nishimura.
