TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona's track and field team wrapped up Willie Williams Classic today at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
"I thought we had a great meet today," head coach Fred Harvey said. "Our guys came out and competed the way I wanted them to this week. It wasn't the highest level of competition, but our guys still came out and competed, so I can say we had a good first outdoor meet."
Aaron Castle won the shot put contest with a mark of 18.63 meters (61' 1.5").
Emma Ljungberg took fourth-place in the discus with a mark of 49.80 meters (163' 4").
Tiana Bonds took second-place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.99 seconds.
Bryce Houston won the 400-meter race with a time of 47.38 seconds, Michael Demby ran a big personal best for second-place at 47.70 seconds with Daniel Egbo also running a personal best time of 47.90 seconds for third-place.
Diana Gajda took second in the 400-meter race with a time of 53.89 seconds.
Miles Parish won the 800-meter race with a personal best time of 1:51.59.
Savaughn Christman, Diana Gajda, Pamela White and Jasper Gray took first overall in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.43 seconds. On the men's side, David Egbo, Isaac Hing, Darnell Sayles and Bryce Houston took second-place with a time of 40.61 seconds.
The Cats will be back in action next weekend for the Pac-12 vs Big 10 Invitational hosted in Tempe, Ariz.
