Los Angeles, Calif. – Seven Wildcats are set to compete in the Jack Kramer Tournament. Freshmen
Nick Lagaev and
Hiroki Sakagawa join sophomores
Conner Olsen and
Jared Horwood and juniors
Carlos Hassey, Igor Karpovets, and
Stewart Block in the upcoming tournament. The tournament begins on Firday, Nov. 1 and ends on Sunday, Nov. 3.
Lagaev has had a solid fall season to date, holding an 8-6 singles record and 4-4 in doubles. His eight wins give him the second most singles wins this fall season. His fellow freshman Sakagawa has six wins this fall, giving him a 6-4 record in his first fall season.
Karpovets competed in the Jack Kramer Tournament last year and reached the finals in doubles. This fall he has captured a singles and doubles title with a record of 6-2 in singles and 5-2 in doubles. Hassey also holds a 6-2 record over the fall season, losing only once in each tournament he has competed in.
Olsen leads the team in singles wins this fall, hoisting a 10-1 singles record. He lost his 10 match win streak in his last tournament where he lost in the finals. He has reached the singles finals in all of the tournaments he has competed in this fall.
Block has not competed since the Wildcat Invitational, but still leads the team in doubles wins. He is the only Wildcat left undefeated in doubles or singles, holding a solid 8-0 doubles record with two doubles titles in back-to-back weeks. Horwood comes into Jack Kramer with a 6-5 singles record, tying Sakagawa, Hassey, and Karpovets for the third most singles wins this fall.
