BACKING THE A WITH ARIZONA FOOTBALL

Saturday was a great win for our football program as we saw a bit of history being made on the field. Khalil Tate became the first quarterback in Arizona history and second in Pac-12 history to reach 5,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards in a career. Khalil's accomplishment, coupled with a strong performance by our defense, made the victory over Texas Tech a memorable night in Arizona Stadium.

With no game this week, Arizona Football welcomes UCLA a week from Saturday, to Arizona Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. (MST) kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 28. The matchup with the Bruins is also Hispanic Heritage Night, which is a tremendous annual event at Arizona Athletics.

This will be an evening full of special activities and promotions, including pregame music, the unique Coca-Cola Fan Fiesta and halftime performances. We've partnered with the UA Hispanic Alumni Club, our media partners, and Hispanic leaders from our campus and community to bring all of these festivities to our fans. We will have more details in next week's Wildcat Wednesday, but we wanted to let our fans know in advance about Hispanic Heritage Night at the UCLA game. Single game tickets for that game are available or you can utilize our new Pac-12 Two Pack, which includes two tickets to any Pac-12 home games of your choice starting at $28. Call 520-621-2287 for all your Arizona Football ticket needs.

ARTISTIC COLLABORATION

mural

We unveiled our latest addition to Arizona Stadium on Saturday, which is a new piece of mural art by Gate 6 on the southeast side of the facility. The finished mural is a collaboration between Arizona Athletics and the College of Fine Arts, painted by local artist and Arizona graduate Danny Martin. Entitled "The Cactus Comet Rides Again", it pays tribute to the rich history and tradition of Arizona Football and Tucson. We hope you will enjoy it, as well our numerous other fan enhancements, on your next trip to an Arizona Football home game.

ARIZONA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON TICKETS

wbb

We are excited to announce that we have opened additional reserved seats for purchase for Women's Basketball season tickets. The buzz surrounding Arizona Women's Basketball continues to grow following their WNIT Championship that saw our community rally behind the program and set attendance records. Season tickets in reserved areas are $100 for all 17 home games with general admission set for $75 for the year. Arizona Athletics also offers discounts for seniors, children, UA faculty and staff as well as military personnel. You can purchase your tickets by clicking here or calling 520-621-2287.

STUDENT-ATHLETE EXPERIENCE

nike

Our nationally-recognized C.A.T.S. Academics and Life Skills programs continue to develop and prepare our student-athletes to be the next generation of leaders, and our ongoing internship program with Nike is a great example of this. Trevor Volpe of Arizona Track and Field and Jenny Leung of Arizona Gymnastics spent this summer as interns at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.

They gained incredible business and marketing experience, including audience researching, collaborating with other units on creating business cases and creating brand strategies. This is just one one of the many great programs for Arizona student-athletes that allows them to have well-rounded and complete experiences as Wildcats both on and off the field.

FIRST WATCH RED-BLUE GAME

red-blue

We are a little over a week away from the tip-off event of the 2019-20 Arizona Basketball season. The First Watch Red-Blue Game, set for 7 p.m. (MST) on Friday, Sept. 27, is your first chance to catch Coach Miller and the Wildcats in action.

Arizona has led the Pac-12 Conference in attendance for 35 consecutive seasons, and McKale Center is a top environment in college basketball. Experience this tremendous atmosphere and click here to get your tickets for the First Watch Red-Blue Game.

STRONG START

Arizona Men's Golf opened their season last week at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale in fine form.  The Wildcats finished in second place at 31-under par with a tournament score of 809, which is the program's lowest ever score for a 54-hole event. Freshman Aidric Chan paced Arizona with a third place finish at 9-under par in his collegiate debut. Seniors Briggs Duce and David Laskin also posted top-10 finishes for the Wildcats. Congrats to Coach Anderson and our student-athletes for the strong opening to the season.

CATS SWEEP THROUGH KANSAS

Coach Rubio and Arizona Volleyball posted a perfect weekend at the Kansas Invitational with three sweeps, including wins over Kansas and Syracuse. The outstanding performance marked the first time Arizona has not lost a set during a weekend on the road since 2009. The Wildcats have now won five consecutive matches in 15 straight sets heading into this weekend's Wildcat Classic. Arizona plays two matches on Friday to open the weekend, starting with Alabama State at 10 a.m. (MST) before facing New Mexico State at 7 p.m. (MST). Click here to get your tickets to the Wildcat Classic.

ANOTHER CAMPUS HONOR

The University of Arizona continues its legacy as one of the world's elite research institutions. The Times Higher Education ranked Arizona No. 104 in its World University Rankings for 2020, which marked a 55-spot jump from UA's rankings a year ago.

Our University's highest ranking since 2015 demonstrates how special this flagship institution is and how proud our athletics department is to be a part of this prestigious university. Bear Down!
