Indoors: Competed in 15 events throughout the indoor season, earning first place honors on three occasions and finishing in the top-3 five times … Earned a second place finish at the UW Invitational in the heptathlon at the UW Invitational, scoring 5,036 points …
Outdoors: Competed in six events throughout the season, finishing top-3 two times … Tabbed a third place finish at the Jim Click Shootout in the long jump … Finished second in the triple jump at the Duel in the Desert, setting a career mark of 46-11.75 in the triple jump …
2016: Indoors, Mickens competed in the long jump at three meets last year placing in the top-five twice. He set a personal best mark at the Don Kirby Invite where he leapt 24 ft. - 1.75 in. (7.35m), garnering a fifth-place finish. His best finish came at the MPSF Championships where he jumped his way to fourth-place, with a distance of 24 ft. - 1 in. (7.34m) ... Outdoors, Mickens spent some time on the sideline. However, Mickens went on to compete in the Jim Bush Invite where he placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 22 ft. - 7 in. (6.88m).
2015: Mickens redshirted during the Track & Field season due to injury.
2014: Indoors, Mickens’ personal-best mark came at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational when he long jumped 23-6.25 (7.16m), good for fifth place overall … Mickens finished in sixth place at the MPSF Championships with a jump of 23-0.75 (7.03m) … Mickens also ran on the 4x400-meter relay, helping the team finish in ninth place at the MPSF Championships … Outdoors, Mickens saw marked improvement in the long jump, soaring past 24-0 in eight of his nine competitions … He posted a wind-aided mark of 24-11.25 (7.60m) in the long jump at the Pepsi Oregon Dual … His personal-best mark came at the Tucson Elite Classic, Mickens had a mark of 24-10.5 (7.58m) … He earned a third-place finish and all-conference honors at the Pac-12 Championships with a wind-aided mark of 24-7.75 (7.51m) … Mickens competed at the NCAA West Preliminaries in the event, posting a mark of 22-8.5 (6.92m) … After the collegiate season, Mickens represented the Wildcats at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships where he took sixth place with a mark of 24-7 (7.49m).
HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of Valley Vista High School in Surprise, Ariz. … Mickens was the team captain for his sophomore, junior and senior year … He posted marks of 48-3 in the triple jump and 22-8.5 in the long jump … He was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that took second place at the Arizona State Championships … He earned D1 all-state accolades as a junior and senior.
PERSONAL: He is the son of Tanya and Charles Mickens and was born in the U.S. Territory of Guam … He has a brother, Guy … He is pursuing a degree in engineering.
