2016 (XC): Kibet was the leader of the men’s team in the 2016 season, having finished first on the team in all four meets he competed in this season. Kibet had two top-five finishes. He took third-place at the Dave Murray Invitational and fifth-place at the Pre-NCAA Cross Country Invite. Kibet capped his season off with a respectable 23rd overall finish at the Pac-12 Championships. Kibet was able to garner Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention honors as well.
2016: Indoors, Kibet ran in four 800-meter races throughout the 2016 indoor campaign and never finished outside of the top-five. He set a personal high at the MPSF Conference Championships with a time of 1:48.04 for a second-place finish ... Outdoors, Kibet added to his accolades in the outdoor season as he became the Pac-12 Champion in the 800-meter race. He got it done by running a time of 1:48.46 in the prelims and a time of 1:47.23 in the finals. His season-best time came at the ASU Invitational where he paced at 1:46.90. Kibet went on to the NCAA West prelims where he ran a time of 1:50.87 for 28th place. Additionally, Kibet earned All-America honorable mention in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of for a 19th-place finish. They ran the second-best time in Arizona history at the prelims with a time of 3:05.44.
2015 (XC): Earned second-place at the U of A Cross Country Twilight meet with a time of 20:52 in the four-mile race… Finished in fifth-place at the Pre-Nationals meet with a time of 24:11.60 in the 8K-race… Took 36th place at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 24:18 in the 8k-race… Placed 94th at the NCAA West Regional with a time of 33:02.80 in the 10k-race.
2015: Indoors, Kibet set a personal best in the 800-meter race at the MPSF Championships with a time of 1:48.85, good for a third-place finish … Took first in the 800-meter race at the Lobo Collegiate Open with a time of 1:50.29 … Ran the mile in 4:04.93 and earned a second-place finish … Outdoors, set a personal best in the 800-meter race at the ASU Invitational with a time of 1:46.87, good for a first-place finish … Took second at the Pac-12 Championships in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:47.06 … Competed at the NCAA Championships in the 800-meter race and clocked a time of 1:50.35, good for a seventh-place finish … Won the 800-meter race at the Arizona-ASU Dual meet with a time of 1:51.18 … Set a new personal best in the 1,500-meter race at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 3:43.86 … Finished in first place at the Arizona-ASU Dual meet in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 3:48.25.
2014 (XC): Kibet ran 4.25 miles in 21:15 at the Dave Murray Invitational and finished in 15th place … Took 28th place at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational and ran 8K in 24:49.84 … Earned a 30th-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships in the 8K race with a time of 24:26.
2014: Indoors, Kibet redshirted the season … Outdoors, Kibet recovered from an injury and returned to action for the Wildcats at the UA-ASU-NAU Double Dual … He ran the 800-meter race in 1:50.08, good for first place … At the Pac-12 Championships, Kibet finished in 11th place in the event with a time of 1:51.40 … He competed in the preliminary round of the 1,500-meter race at the Pac-12 Championships, clocking a time of 3:57.08 … At the NCAA West Preliminaries, Kibet ran a time of 1:49.75 in the 800 meters, good for a spot in the quarterfinal … In the quarterfinal, Kibet’s personal-best time of 1:49.19 was good for 14th place overall, just missing a spot in the semifinal at the NCAA Championships.
2013 (XC): As a freshman, Kibet was the top finisher for the men’s team four of the six races he competed in … He won the Dave Murray Invitational with a time of 21:29.89 in the 4.25-mile race … He finished in 24th place overall at the Roy Griak Invitational with a time of 24:55 in the 8,000-meter race … At the Pac-12 Championships, Kibet’s time of 25:39 in the 8,000-meter race was good for 17th place overall.
HIGH SCHOOL: Kibet graduated from Patrick’s High School in Eldoret, Kenya … He has no competitive running experience.
PERSONAL: He is the son of Grace and Peter Kibet … He has seven sisters, including current Wildcat Elvin Kibet, and two brothers, Robert and Ian … He is a pre-business major.
