2016 (XC): Green broke out and was a shining star for the cross country team in the 2016 season. In every race she competed in, Green took first on the team in all but one race. She finished in the top-20 in all five races she competed in, highlighted by a first-place finish at the Dave Murray Invitational and a fourth-place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational. Green went on to take 18th overall at the Pac-12 Championships and an even more impressive 12th-place finish at the NCAA West Regional that earned her a spot on the West All-Regional team.
2016: Indoors, Green competed in the mile run three times throughout the 2016 indoor season. Green ran a time of 4:48.33 at the Husky Classic for a 19th-place finish. She also finished in third-place at the Power 5 Invitational with a time of 4:51.00. She set a personal best time of 4:44.22 at the MPSF Championships for a seventh-place finish … Outdoors, Green ran in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter races over the 2016 outdoor campaign where she set personal bests in each of the events. She ran a personal best in the 800-meter race at the Jim Click Shootout with a mark of 2:09.43 for a second-place finish. Additionally, at the Stanford Invitational Green set a personal record in the 1,500-meter race as she placed sixth with a mark of 4:21.07. Green competed in the 1,500-meter race at the Pac-12 Championships where she placed 14th overall with a time of 4:24.43. She qualified for the NCAA West Prelims where she finished in 38th-place with a time of 4:33.51.
2015 (XC): Placed third at the U of A Cross Country Twilight with a time of 17:53 … Earned fourth overall at Pre-Nationals in Louisville last year in a 6k race with a time of 20:55.70 ... Finished in 41st place at the NCAA West Regional with a time of 21:28.40, helping the Cats to a 14th place finish.
2015: Indoors, set a personal best in the 800-meter run at the Lobo Collegiate Open and finished in second place with a time of 2:13.22 … Took 15th at the MPSF Championships in the mile run by finishing in 4:50.73, which is a personal best … Outdoors, set a personal best at the Jim Click Shootout in the 800-meter run by clocking a time of 2:09.61, good for fifth place … Finished in 11th place at the Pac-12 Championships in the 800-meter run and finished in a time of 2:11.01 … Took first place at the Arizona-ASU Dual meet in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:11.77 … Also finished in second place in the 800-meter run at the Willie Williams Classic with a time of 2;12.94 … Clocked a time of 4:28.31 in the 1,500-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays, good for a first-place finish.
2014 (XC): Took sixth place at the George Kyte Classic by finishing in a time of 15:40.8 in the three-mile race … Also finished in sixth place at the Dave Murray Invitational with a three-mile time of 17:44 … Earned seventh place at the ASU Invitational with a three-mile time of 18:29.71 … Ran at the Pac-12 Championships and finished the 6K 21:57.
HIGH SCHOOL: She graduated from Monarch High School and was a four-time letterwinner in cross country, track and field and swimming … She was the 2013 cross country team captain and the 2014 track and field team captain … She was the team’s Most Valuable Player 2010 (XC), 2011 and 2012 (track) … She earned all-conference honors all four years in cross country and track … Green was an all-region honoree as a cross country athlete all four years … Green earned all-state accolades for cross country three years and all four years as a track athlete … She clocked times on the track of 2:11.96 (school record) in the 800 meters, 5:00 in the mile and 17:52 in the 5K … She was three-time Colorado State Champion and two-time Nike Cross Country National Championship qualifier.
PERSONAL: She is the daughter of Ashley Green and Joanie Carew, both of whom graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo … She has one brother, Isaac … Joanie has coached cross country for 20 years … Claire entered high school not planning on running, but decided at the last minute to try it out … She is pursuing a degree in elementary education.
