Biography
2015-16: At Pac-12 Championships, finished 28th in the 100 fly (56.47) and tied for 36th in the 50 free (23.50)…Placed fifth in the D final of the 50 free (23.36) and seventh in the D final of the 100 fly (56.56) at the Texas Invitational…Took seventh in the 100 fly against No. 2 Stanford and in the 50 free against No. 4 Texas.
Prior to Arizona: Was on the Santa Barbara Swim Club from age five to 17 and a national-level sprinter…Qualified for the 2014 Junior Nationals…Considered the 36th-ranked recruit out of California…Finished top-three academically in high school…Received the history award and earned a 4.0 unweighted GPA one year.
Personal: Born Alyssa Virginia Powell in August of 1997 to George and Juli Powell…Has two older brothers, Ari and Abe…Has an older sister, Trish…Planned major in Chemistry at Arizona…Likes to spent time with friends and nap in her free time…Chose Arizona over UCLA, SDSU, UCSB and Penn State because “it was unlike any other school”.
