2015-16: Named a CSCAA Scholar All-American…Holds the eighth fastest time in school history in the 100 back (52.47)…Had the second fastest time on the team in the 100 back and third fastest in the 200 back…Finished 23rd in the 100 back (52.70) and 43rd in the 200 back (1:56.26) at NCAA Championships…At Pac-12 Championships, took fourth in the B final of the 100 back and 200 back…Was runner-up in the 100 back against No. 2 Stanford (54.61) and No. 4 Texas (54.66)…Placed eighth in the 100 back at the Texas Invitational (54.05).
High School: A four-time letterwinner at Holland High School...Was team captain her senior year and MVP both junior and senior year...Made All-Conference, All-City and All-State First Team all four years of high school...Earned 14 All-America honors...Won the TEAM award her senior year...Graduated in the top 10% of her class...Holds the school record in the 100 fly, 200 medley relay and 400 free relay...Team was State Champions in 2011, 2012 and 2013...Was an eight-time individual champion...Most decorated female swimmer in Michigan history.
Personal: Born Taylor Rae Garcia in May of 1997 to Mike and Shawnda Garcia...Planned major in Physiology to become a medical examiner...Likes to go to the beach, paddleboard and hammock in her free time...Chose Arizona over USC, Wisconsin, Texas, Tennessee, Louisville, Michigan, Indiana and Texas A&M because of the strive the team has and the location.
