Track & Field Heads to Palo Alto for Pac-12 Championships

Tucson, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Track and Field program is set to compete in the Pac-12 Championships hosted by Stanford. The two-day competition begins on Saturday, May 12th with the first Wildcat beginning competition at 2:30 p.m. MST.

The women's team will enter the competition in third place with six points following Alyssa Thompson's third place finish in the Pac-12 Multi-Events Championships.

For the first time in history, both days of the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships will be broadcast live. Coverage of the event will air on Saturday, May 12 starting at 5:30 p.m. MST and Sunday, May 13 starting at 3 p.m. MST across Pac-12 Network, all regional channels, Pac-12 Now & Pac-12.com. Paul Sunderland (1984 Olympian), Tom Feuer (Emmy Award-winning Olympics producer), Jordan Kent (four-time track All-American at Oregon) and Jill Savage will cover the action.

Making the trip to Palo Alto will be Brena Andrews, Jennie Baragar-Petrash, Malia Bryant, Savaughn Christman, Megan Dulaney, Kayla Ferron, Diana Gajda, Claire Green, Aleah Hurst, Emma Ljungberg, Karolina Pahlitzsch, Tiana Poirier-Shelton, Teagan Rasche, Kaelyn Shipley, April Sutton, Karla Teran, Alyssa Thompson, Tatum Waggoner, Katelin Warren Pamela White, and Addi Zerrenner.

On the men's side, Trent Brendel, Cody Dalton, Daniel Egbo, David Egbo, Grayson Fleming, Jordan Geist, Myles Hawkins, Isaac Hing, Tyrell Johnson, Gustavs Kehris, Collins Kibet, Erik Mensendiek, Avery Mickens, Bryant O'Georgia, Matthew Post, Bailey Roth, Darnell Sayles, Maksims Sincukovs, Justice Summerset, Travis Thorne, Carlos Villarreal, Trevor Volpe, Turner Washington, Zakee Washington, Seamus White, and Umajesty Williams will compete.

Conference Leads: The men's squad holds three of the conference's top field marks going into the championship weekend. Jordan Geist owns the top shot pout mark in the conference and NCAA with a throw of 20.41m (66-11.5) set at the 2018 Desert Heat Classic. Turner Washington set the top discus mark at the 2018 Desert Heat Classic with a throw of 56.50m (185-4). Bryant O'Georgia cleared 2.22m (7-3.25) in the high jump.

Athletes of the Week: The Cats have claimed six Pac-12 Athlete of the Week honors this outdoor season. Jordan Geist won three Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors, two consecutively. Bryant O'Georgia claimed a field honor for his 2.22m (7-3.25) clearance at the Aztec Invitational. Carlos Villarreal earned the final Men's Track Athlete of the Week following a second place finish in the 800-meter run at the 2018 Desert Heat Classic with a time of 1:46.70, good for the No. 2 mark in the conference. Karolina Pahlitzsch won the opening Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor.

Relays For Days: The men and womens's 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams check in with top-4 marks in the Pac-12 Conference. The men's 4x400-meter relay team owns the No. 3 spot in the conference and the 4x100-meter relay team checks in with the No. 4 mark. The women's 4x400-meter relay team checks in with the No. 3 mark and the 4x100-meter relay team owns the No. 4 mark in the conference.
