2015: Redshirted during the indoor season … Outdoors, Legernes took third place in the 5K at the Willie Williams Classic with a time of 15:38.07 … Set a season-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the San Francisco Carnival with a time of 9:25.94 … Finished in fourth place at the Arizona-ASU Dual meet in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a mark of 9:26.02.
2014 (XC): Ran 8,000 meters in 24:10.5 at the George Kyte Classic and took 16th place overall … Took 13th place at the ASU Invite while running four miles in 21:27.55 … Competed in the Pac-12 Championships and ran 8K in 26:08.
2014: Indoors, Legernes competed in three 3,000-meter races … His season-best time came at the Husky Classic, running 8:21.51 … At the MPSF Championships, Legernes clocked a time of 8:31.60 … Outdoors, Legernes ran the 1,500 meters, 3K, and 3,000-meter steeplechase.
2013 (XC): Legernes scored for the UA men’s team in five of the six races he competed in … He finished in 23rd place at the George Kyte Classic with a time of 27:03.8 in the 8K … Legernes’ 4.25-mile time of 22:20.12 was good for seventh place overall … At the Pac-12 Championships, Legernes finished in 51st place overall with a time of 26:38.
2013: Indoors, Legernes clocked a personal-best time of 8:18.20 in the 3K at the MPSF Championships, good for 21st place … He also ran the 3K at the Husky Classic and Razorback Invitational … Outdoors, Legernes ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational and Pac-12 Championships … His personal-best time of 9:02.03 came at the Stanford Invitational … He took 12th place at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing the race in 9:07.41.
2012 (XC): Legernes competed at the NCAA West Regional and finished the 10K in 32:30, good for 141st place and sixth among UA runners.
BEFORE ARIZONA: Legernes attended the University of Tulsa for the fall semester of 2011 … He competed on the cross country team.
HIGH SCHOOL: He attended high school at Rudbeck in Norway … He earned a first-place finish at the Swedish Junior Championships in the 2,000-meter steeplechase … At the European Junior Championships he finished in ninth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase … Legernes also competed at the World Junior Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
PERSONAL: He is the son of Helga and Lotta Legernes and was born in Gothenburg, Sweden … He has three brothers, two twins, Erik and Henrik, and Johan … He is pursuing a degree in physiology and aspires to be a physical therapist.
