Wildcat Wednesday

Wildcat Wednesday - Another Winning Weekend

Follow Dave Heeke on Twitter | Sign Up for the Wildcat Wednesday

Last weekend was full of wins for many of our programs, including a pair of marquee wins over USC and UCLA by our men's basketball program in McKale Center. Coach Lloyd and the Wildcats picked up signature wins in front of capacity crowds as our home environment shined through on national television. It was great to experience more "McKale Magic" as we honor the 50 years of greatness inside our iconic venue.

Included in Saturday's festivities was our official induction of Wildcat legend Ernie McCray into the Ring of Honor. Ernie was a trail blazer as the first African-American graduate from our men's basketball program who still holds the single-game scoring record of 46 points. It was our honor to welcome him to McKale Center and hang his name in the rafters alongside the other greats of the program.

Arizona Women's Basketball picked up the win over the Sun Devils on Sunday in Tempe. A balanced attack of five double-digit scorers led Arizona to the victory to complete the season sweep of the in-state rivals.

Coach Barnes and company have a pair of home games this week, beginning with the Washington Huskies at 7 p.m. (MST) on Friday. Arizona Women's Basketball is leading the Pac-12 in attendance, and we would like to continue to grow our home crowds. You can purchase tickets for Friday's game by clicking here or dialing the McKale Center Ticket Office at 520-621-2287. There will also be a Diaper Drive for the Washington Game, so please bring new diapers to donate to the Diaper Drive of Southern Arizona. Bear Down and Go Cats!

CATCH ARIZONA MEN'S GOLF IN PERSON

Our men's golf program will host its annual Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday of next week at Tucson Country Club. The event, which was first played in 1981, returns to TCC, which will be the home of our brand new William M. "Bill" Clements Golf Center. This state-of-the-art facility for both our golf teams will be constructed on site at Tucson Country Club.

The 2023 edition of Arizona's home tournament will be the first year that it's played with the Thunderbirds' name attached to the tournament after the group's incredible generosity towards the construction of the Clements Golf Center. Attendance is free for fans to attend the event, which begins on Monday morning. The Wildcats are the five-time defending champions of the tournament and open a new year with the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. See you at TCC next week. Bear Down and Go Cats!
