Cats Host Rival ASU for Senior Day

Who: ARIZONA vs Arizona State
When: Saturday, February 9 at 12 p.m. (noon)
Where: Tucson, Arizona (Hillenbrand Aquatic Center)
 
This Week
Arizona will take on Arizona State for senior day in the last home meet of the season. Festivities begin at 11:30 a.m. with a Facility Dedication Ceremony followed by honoring our seniors. Competition will begin at 12 p.m. noon.
 
Texas & NC State Tri Meet Recap
The Cats totaled eight wins across two days in the loss to highly-ranked Texas and North Carolina State. Senior Mackenzie Rumrill won three events and set a personal best.
 
Eyeing the Competition
No. 17 Arizona State men are 1-3 on the season, dropping three Pac-12 meets (USC, Cal, Stanford). 
 
Sun Devil women are 2-5 this season, beating Oregon State and Washington State, but dropping dual meets to Florida State, USC, UCLA, Cal, and Stanford. 
 
History verse ASU
Arizona men are 4-2-1 against ASU over the last seven seasons. Wildcat women have won six of the last seven meetings against the Sun Devils.
 
Senior Accolades
Arizona will be honoring eleven active seniors on Saturday, with celebrations beginning at 11:30 a.m. and competition kicking off at 12 p.m. noon MST.
 
Daniela Georges is captain of the women's team from Irvine, California. She currently holds the ninth-fastest time in school history in the 400 IM. Thus far, she has posted the fastest time on the team in the 200 back, and has finished in the top-three all attempts this season. In her career, Georges has earned 14 NCAA B cuts.
 
Katrina Konopka is a three-time All-American, three-time All-American Honorable Mention, and three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. She holds all-time top-times in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 back, and currently holds the school record in the 200 medley relay. In her career, Konopka has earned 24 NCAA cuts.
 
Mik Ranslem holds the ninth-fastest time in school history in the 200 fly. She has earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention and CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention. Ranslem has earned 8 NCAA B cuts in her career.
 
Mackenzie Rumrill currently holds all-time top-times in the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 IM. She earned All-America honors in the 200 and 400 medley relay. She was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team and CSCAA Scholar All-American. Rumrill has earned 13 NCAA cuts in her career.
 
Sarah Shimomura won the Pac-12 Sportsmanship Award last season. She has earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention and CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention. In her career, Shimomura has earned 5 NCAA B cuts.
 
Ashley Sutherland is captain of the women's team from Buckley, Washington. She earned All-American Honorable Mention in the 200 free relay, and has earned 7 NCAA cuts in her career. Sutherland was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team and CSCAA Scholar All-American.
 
Chatham Dobbs holds four all-time top-ten times in Arizona school history. The Tennessee native has earned two Pac-12 titles and three All-American Honorable Mentions. He currently holds the fastest time on the team in the 50 free, 100 fly, and 100 back. Dobbs has earned 27 NCAA cuts in his career.
 
Jerad Kaskawal is a freestyle swimmer from La Habra, California. He has earned 5 NCAA B cuts in his career and placed in the top-five in every attempt in the 500 free last season.
 
Matt Lujan has earned four NCAA B cuts in his career, specializing in backstroke. The Tucson native was named CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention and Pac-12 All-Academic First Team in 2017 and 2018.
 
Mathias Oh is a butterfly swimmer from Seattle, Washington. He currently holds the sixth-fastest time in Arizona school history in the 200 fly. Oh has been named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team and CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention. The Accounting major has earned 10 NCAA B cuts in his career as a Wildcat.
 
Matt Salerno is captain of the men's team and currently holds the eighth-fastest time in Arizona school history in the 100 breast. He has earned 11 NCAA cuts in his career, and All-American Honorable Mention. The Illinois native earned CSCAA Scholar All-American, Pac-12 All-Academic First Team, Pac-12 Leadership Award, and the Wildcat Way Award.
