Wildcat Wednesday

Wildcat Wednesday - Another Arizona National Championship

We want to congratulate Wildcat great Delaney Schnell from Arizona Swimming & Diving on the championship cap to her outstanding career. Delaney won the NCAA national title in the platform dive over the weekend, securing the program's first individual national title since Kevin Cordes won the 100-meter breaststroke in 2015. Her national championship, alongside Jordan Geist's indoor track and field title in the shotput earlier this month, marks the first time Arizona Athletics has had multiple national champions in one year since 2015.

Delaney's career as a student-athlete has epitomized our Wildcat Way mission to develop academic, athletic and life champions. She has won Pac-12 and national championships, earned a dozen All-America honors, won an Olympic silver medal, been named an Academic All-American twice, rewritten the Arizona record books and much more.

Hats off to Delaney for living the Wildcat Way and for proudly representing the University of Arizona and the city of Tucson on the biggest of stages throughout your career. You will always be a Wildcat for Life! Bear Down Delaney!

ARIZONA MEN'S GOLF HISTORIC VICTORIES

Coach Anderson and the Wildcats swept the team and individual championships at the Arizona NIT at Omni Tucson National over the weekend. The team won its annual tournament for the first time since 2003 in dramatic fashion with a one-stroke win over Pepperdine as freshman Zach Pollo sank the final putt on the final hole to secure the win. In the victory, our golf team defeated five teams ranked in the top 15 nationally. The win also extended the program's impressive streak of a win in a home tournament in each of the last six seasons.

Zach not only secured our team's win of the tournament, but he was the co-champion of the event. His individual victory makes him the first Arizona freshman since Henry Liaw in 2004 to win a tournament. Zach was also named Pac-12 Co-Golfer of the Week for his great work on the course.

Hats off to Arizona Men's Golf on a great weekend of championships and honors. The Wildcats are off until the nationally televised Western Intercollegiate on the Golf Channel that begins on Monday, April 10. Bear Down and Go Cats!
